STATEMENT:

Isadora Vogt’s practice encompasses drawing, painting, collages and video work.
Her work is informed by a strong interest in the concept and imagery of romanticisation in relation to topics like identity and power structures.

In her paintings and collages Isadora Vogt often draws on folkloristic and fairy-tale motifs with historical references combining found objects and archival materials, like stationary paper, magazine cutouts and photographs. Seemingly innocent scenes shift to appear potentially threatening. The domestic sphere takes on an uncanny dimension.
In her videos Vogt experiments, using costumes and staging techniques as a means of self-representation, questioning preconceived notions of identity and femininity.
